Year 7 World Record Attempt
Ridgewood students were amongst over 362,000 young people taking part in this year's Youth Voices 'Biggest Sing', the flagship event of Children's Mental Health Week.
Friday 18 June 2021
On Tuesday 15 June at 2pm, our Year 7 cohort along with hundreds of thousands of other students and teachers across the UK, came together in an attempt to smash the Guiness World Record™ for the Largest Simultaneous Sing-Along and (hopefully) top the charts with a charity single!
This year, due to ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the event organisers chose to celebrate in an alternative way by inviting children across the nation to participate via their YouTube live-streaming channel. From the safety of their schools, children were invited to sing 'Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers, with special guest artists to raise vital funds in support of Place2Be, Youth Voice's chosen charity for 2021.
The arrangement of the Bill Withers classic song, ‘Lovely Day’ was well-received by all staff and students and in a time when the mental health of children and young people could not be more important, this was truly a joyful occasion for all those involved.
Well done to all the Year 7 students who were able to take part and a special thanks to our dedicated Music Team for their hard work coordinating the event, as well as the additional staff who helped to support the smooth and safe running of the sing-along!
