Ridgewood School

Stop Hate UK Awareness Day

On Friday 11 October, Ridgewood School will be holding an awareness day in support of Stop Hate UK, an organisation committed to addressing hate crime and promoting a more inclusive society. To mark this important day, we will be having a non-uniform day to raise awareness about the importance of standing against hate and fostering respect for all, regardless of background.

We encourage all students and staff to wear at least one item of red clothing on this day as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against hate crimes. While we welcome voluntary donations to support the work of Stop Hate UK, contributions are not compulsory. Our primary aim is to raise awareness and promote unity within our school and the wider community.

As part of the day’s activities, during PDP (11:00 am - 11:30 am), students will be shown a presentation about Stop Hate UK. The presentation aims to explain to students what the organisation does, its purpose, and facilitate a wider discussion around equality, diversity, and inclusion. It will also explore the impact of hate crimes, the reasons why organisations like Stop Hate UK are necessary, and how these ideas link to British Values and our Ridgewood values of Respect, Resilience, and Responsibility.

We want to ensure that parents and carers are fully informed about the purpose of the day and what will be discussed with students. This is a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion and reflect on how they can contribute to building a kinder, more respectful society.

We greatly appreciate your support in making this day meaningful for all our students.
