Performing Arts opportunities announced

Ridgewood’s Drama Department is offering several very exciting opportunities to get involved in performing arts over the next term, many which are open to all year groups.

A sensational new project is the school musical, a first for Ridgewood School! We are staging the classic Broadway show, Little Shop of Horrors. Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, a flower shop assistant who one day discovers a very interesting plant… a plant with a need for blood! What follows for Seymour is an adventure to keep the plant fed, to win the love of his life Audrey (whom the plant is named after!) and to stay alive. The musical will combine excellent acting, singing and dancing to create an unforgettable experience for the audience and performers alike. We will be staging the show in February 2018 – watch out for more updates soon.

We are also proud to continue the highly successful PATCH, our audition-only drama group, who will be working on a performance as part of the National Connections Festival 2018. This initiative gives us an opportunity to work with a local theatre and the National Theatre to perform a new piece of writing by a well-known playwright. We will keep you updated about both the rehearsals and the performance.

Finally we have our Limelights programme – a drama club which is open to all students. Limelights will be working on a range of drama skills and techniques in order to develop confidence and performance skills.

For more information, students can see Miss Cracknell (Head of Drama) or Miss Walker (Head of Performing Arts).
