PSHCE

The vision of the PSHCE department is to equip students with the ability to deal with the challenges of everyday life, both as a young person and as an adult, developing their awareness in an increasingly complex world.

 

Through the PSHCE Curriculum at Ridgewood School we equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to live a happy, healthy and successful life, from adolescence into adulthood. The PSHCE curriculum develops knowledge learned at primary school to enable students to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive and safe way.

Our PSHCE curriculum will give students the opportunity to learn how to:

  • Take care of themselves, make informed decisions and know where to receive support if problems arise.
  • Develop resilience and character so they become happy successful members of society.
  • Stay safe emotionally and physically in our modern world, promoting their own wellbeing and that of others.
  • Develop empathy and understand other cultures to be able to live and work harmoniously with those who may be different from themselves.
  • Manage healthy lifestyles and foster positive relationships, so they remain safe and maintain a balance between life online and life in the real world.
  • Prepare for an independent life and develop aspirations for life beyond post 16.
