Learning is important, but so is the care and support that students receive whilst at Ridgewood.
Our students are in form groups with a form tutor who is their first point of contact in the morning, and their mid-day point of contact during ‘Personal Development Programme’ (PDP) time. Form tutors know the students in their form groups extremely well – their interests, family arrangements, academic profile – and can use their knowledge of their tutees to ensure they receive first class support and guidance.
Each year group is also led by an Achievement Co-ordinator (AC). Our ACs monitor progress across their year groups, as well as ensuring that students’ behaviour is of the highest standards, and that success is regularly recognised.
Should parents/carers have a concern regarding their child (that is not an urgent safeguarding matter), we ask that they contact the student's Form Tutor and/or AC in the first instance. These are the members of staff with the most consistent contact with students and are therefore best placed to support them with any issues they may be experiencing, either at school and/or at home. If a concern persists or a student's wellbeing deteriorates significantly, the Safeguarding and Wellbeing team at Ridgewood School are on hand to offer support, information and advice to all students and parents/carers.
Please get in touch via the enquiry form on our Contact Us page, should you have any further questions or to speak directly to our Safeguarding and Wellbeing team.
Wellbeing during the Covid-19 Pandemic
In order to further support our students and parents/carers during these unprecedented times, we have have collated (and will continue to share) further information on the local and national provision in place for young people and families surrounding mental health and wellbeing at this time.
