Sixth form students celebrate A level results

Delighted students get dream results.

Ridgewood Sixth Form students are today receiving a fantastic set of A level results and preparing for the next stage in their education and careers. Over 100 students have spent the last three months eagerly anticipating the outcomes of their exams and coursework, and now the wait is over.

After two years of hard work, students are discovering their A level and BTEC grades, with plenty of smiling faces and celebratory hugs as they find out just how many top grades they have got.

Across all qualifications taken, students achieved a pass rate of 100% at A*-E, with over one in five of all grades at A* and A (at A level). Over half of all A level grades were A*-B, and over three quarters were A*-C. In vocational qualifications, a third of grades were Distinction* (equivalent to A*). The average grade across all qualifications was a B- (improved from a C in 2017/18).

As well as their academic achievements, many students have also gained the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, completed internships, and embraced many other extra-curricular and leadership activities.

Their excellent results, combined with their successes outside the classroom, have meant that students are now about to embark on university courses and apprenticeships. Students have achieved places at a variety of prestigious universities including Durham, St Andrews, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle and Loughborough. Others have also secured places on sought after apprenticeships including Quantity Surveying with Keepmoat Homes and Engineering with Bridon.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students on their results, and thank the teachers who have worked hard to see them realise their potential. Thanks also to the parents and families who have supported the students throughout their studies.
