Media training for Year 9 with #YOYO
Along with Hallam FM and YOYO South Yorkshire, students in Year 9 explored healthy relationships and created a radio advert to highlight awareness of unhealthy relationships.
Twenty one students in Year 9 spent a day last week working with industry professionals to create a radio advert to highlight the dangers of domestic abuse. Their brief - to create an infomercial aimed at highlighting the consequences of unhealthy relationships - involved them researching the topic and exploring how media presentations of issues can influence young people to act.
Olivia, Casey, Harvey, Arley, Rachel, Holly, Patrick, Charlotte, Elisia, Ameila, Sarah, Lily, Chris, Charlotte, Grace, Alisha, Melissa, Dylan, Tilly, Abbie and Sam impressed the team from YOYO South Yorkshire by creating multimedia content on the serious topics discussed. Some students were even invited to go along to Hallam FM for voice over opportunities.
Thanks to Mr Summerill and Miss Hodges for their work with the students, and to the fantastic staff from YOYO and Hallam FM. Well done to all the students involved for their creative, mature and innovative work.
